The BSc programme in Procurement and Supply Chain Management is a four-year programme, which seeks to:
- Prepare graduates with expertise in Procurement and Logistics to meet business needs.
- Equip graduates with a strong and broad skills and knowledge to take on leadership positions in the job market upon graduation or pursue research or graduate studies in the field.
Students will be provided with the necessary theoretical, analytical, and practical skills required to manage the flow of materials and products from the original source to the final consumer. The program of study emphasizes the demand and replenishment, procurement, logistics operations and customer service dimensions of the field in supply management. Through assigned projects, students working in teams will develop skills in problem-solving, discussion and negotiation, leadership and decision making, teamwork, presentation, communication and report writing.
STUDENT LEARNING OUTCOMES
The program aims to provide graduates with the necessary knowledge required to further enhance the procurement and supply chain process of businesses and contribute to and develop the systems employed by the public institutions, banks and financial institutions. Specifically, the course will give in-depth understanding of core areas of procurement, negotiation and contracts with quantitative content. We also equip our graduates with skills in numeracy, IT, communication and problem solving, as well as key skills for further study at the graduate level. We prepare graduates for specialist quantitatively orientated careers in the public sector and, research and forecasting, as well as areas of business management and accounting
EMPLOYMENT PROSPECTS OF GRADUATES
Procurement is one of the fastest growing disciplines of strategic importance in this country. With the passing of the procurement bill by parliament all government organizations are recruiting graduates in procurement to staff their procurement department. There is also a demand for procurement graduates in industry as more corporate chief executives now recognize that Procurement is now a driving force in business – a profit creation centre, rather than a cost saving function.
